Iv'e been working out for forever and I still look the same..
weight: 127 lbs
height: 5"2
If I run 5 times a week (3 times HIIT for 30 mins, 2 times moderate for 60 mins) and I eat properly (meaning 1200 calories - egg whites, salads, greek yogurt, fruits, and veggies), will I lose the weight? I feel like that's kinda what I've been doing but I still haven't seen any changes.
please help, I'm sick of the last 10 pounds

This might sound odd, but it wasn't until I did less cardio and ate more calories did my plateau break. had been stuck since the beginning of June.
Eating at tdee -10-15%, only run 3x a week maybe 4 tops. Also do a bit of yoga but that's just for stress relief and incorporate some lifting.
check out the road map thread..that is what helped me sort it all out.0 -

I don't think I hit a plateau though, since I've always been around 127-130 lbs :S I have a small waist and big thighs/a big bum.. so I just want a flatter stomach and smaller thighs and I though running would do the job0 -
Maybe you don't need to lose weight and just need to tone up a little bit? Honestly I was skinny at 145 and 5'2. It's how you carry it and if you have muscle or fat. I was mostly muscle and still am. I don't believe I look like I weigh 210. I'm in a size 14 jeans at 5'2 and 210 lbs.0

My advice; calculate an intake tailored to you and not a generic 1200 cals pulled from the interweb. Take up resistance training in some form 3 times a week, cut cardio to twice a week.
Dieting stresses your body = cortisol
Exercising stresses your body = cortisol
Cortisol = slowed results
Be aware if you start eating more you're likely to gain a little weight. This will be water and glycogen. 3500 cals excess needed for a pound of fat.0 -
Hey beautiful, you should open up your diary!0

You can't spot reduce, to get smaller thighs you have to get smaller everywhere. Try eating more, incorporate protein powder, lift weights and you'll at least look smaller regardless of the scale.0

Per the Mifflin-Jeor calculation of BMR, for an 18 year old, 5'2" woman weighing 127 pounds your baseline BMR is 1310 calories. Your BMR times the moderately active activity factor of 1.550 would be 2031 calories. (Even at the lightly active activity factor of 1.375 the total calories would be 1802.) These numbers are for maintaining your weight at 127 pounds.
For your goal weight of 117 pounds (127 less 10), the BMR is 1265. BMR times moderately active activity factor (1265 x 1.550) is 1960. BMR times lightly active activity factor (1265 x 1.375) is 1739. Again, this is for maintaining your weight at this level.
You are eating below the BMR even for your goal weight. When you do this, your body slows down your metabolism.
A better approach would be to eat at least 1600 calories. This gives you a 12% to 22% calorie deficit from what you need to eat to maintain your current weight (1802 to 2031 calories), and will result in weight loss (perhaps more slowly than you like).
Try it and see what happens.

I hear ya girl, I been the same weight for almost 2 months now. And recently started running as well. But I think you look great and at a good weight for your height. Maybe try eating a littler bit more, and research calorie cycling. That's where one day you over calories, one day under, etc. Supposebly that helps with a plateau or if you want to lose more weight. I've lost weight when I actually ate more, weird enough.0

Start weight lifting. You can do cardio all day long and probably won't make the scale budge. To reshpae your body the way you want you need to pick up heavy things. The scale might not budge any more, but when women weight lift, they get smaller. It's important to remember too that the closer you get to your goal weight the harder your body will fight back. Check out the group "not-so-heavy girls." There are many posts in there that relate to this topic.0

I'm 5'2" also and had a long plateau around 121lbs. I went from 135 to 121 running or power walking and eating 1200 cal/day, but since I got within 10 lbs of my goal weight I've had to completely change my approach. I've been doing what the above posters have recommended: increased my calories, switched to primarily weight bearing or resistance exercises, and really focused on eating a lean protein & veggie-based diet with as many clean foods as possible. This approach has helped me get to 115 lbs and it can be a challenge to meet my calorie goals each day. I don't want to rely on protein powders or shakes so I bring grilled chicken, almonds, and cottage cheese with me to work and snack on those things between meals. You'll get there. Just don't give up on eating as nutritiously as you can.0

We ALL get there...sometimes you have to change things up. Trick your body, keep it guessing. We have evolved from learning and adapting. Your body has done that...
