"pumpkin pie" green smoothie
Can't believe how good this tasted.
This is enough for two HUGE smoothies, about 350-400 calories each.
Can halve the recipe obviously, and/or cut down on the higher calorie ingredients as needed to fit your needs.
2 cups water
ice cubes
5 oz (or more if you like a "greener" taste) greens (spinach, baby kale, chard, etc.)
1 can or 2 cups fresh, pumpkin puree (or sweet potato puree, or butternut squash puree)
1 apple, chopped
1 banana
1/2 avocado
2 teaspoons ginger shreds (or use a refrigerated herb puree like Earthbound Farms - easy)
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon allspice
4 tablespoons toasted flax seeds (could also use dry toasted walnuts or pecans)
could add honey to taste as well - I liked it fine w/o added sweetener but I've trained by taste buds to enjoy green smoothies that are only mildly sweet from fruit.
