Has anyone else come across these?
I bought one yesterday. It was advertisde as containing 20 times the vitamin C of the usual sort.
So it sounded good but now I'm slightly concerned that it's some GM thing...

Sounds delicious! I'd love to try some... Wiki says it's just a mutant gene. I assume the same is true for purple cauliflower. You could rice it and add some curry and peppers, I bet it would be super tasty. ♥0

Never heard of it!! I hate cauliflower, but I love broccoli....kind of funny. I tell my girls that it's "white broccoli" now they at least love the stuff! Only kids I know that love broccoli and cauliflower, haha!0

Yep, we are looking to grow them on our allotment in the UK, there is also a purple and green variety. They are, like anything a genetic mutation (natural) as opposed to being genetically modified (human intervention) so hopes that sets your mind a rest a bit.
Certainly in the UK the will have been cross bread and this type (http://www.dtbrownseeds.co.uk/seeds-plants-gardening/22217/cauliflower-sunset-f1-seeds ) you can see is F1 which tells me it is a hybrid and if it were to relant the seeds they would revert back to one of the parent plants.0 -
Perfectly safe! I eat this all the time, and they are wonderful. Here's how I eat it: Separate the cauliflower into florets and blitz (in about 3 batches) in a food processor to turn it into "rice". Heat up a couple of tablespoons of coconut (or whatever fat you like) in a large frying pan and sweat 3 minced garlic cloves and 1/2 a diced onion. When they've released their flavor into the oil, add the cauliflower, season as you like, and push it around the pan for about 5 to 7 minutes until its turned from orange to a more yellow golden. Delish!!!
You can use this as a base for stir fries, or add veggies or dried fruits to make a pilaf - whatever you would do with rice! I can't eat rice right now, but even when I can again, I'm not letting this go, its got such a beautiful flavor.
Enjoy!!!0 -

This sounds delicious. More incentive to buy a food processor. I'm a foodie, I need one so badly! Homemade hummus and sauces and breadcrumbs and... ;__;0 -

Oh, you really do need to get one!!!! We've had our cuisinart for 11 years and it looks like it will last 11 more. Its definitely worth the investment and opens up whole new worlds of food (cue soaring music). The pie crusts you can make with it are amaaaaaaaazing.0 -
Thanks all! I googled it as well, and am now reassured! Cauliflower curry, me thinks0
