This is my second week of my diet/workout plan and I have been working out 7 days a week, eating healthier (no bad food or drink), and yet I only lost around 2 pounds this week. The first week I lost 9 pounds. I am completely discouraged already by the work I have put in this week and the lack of results. What am I doing wrong? I am in a biggest loser contest with my neighbors and they have lost big the last two weeks.

I have been at this for about 6 weeks now and lost 13 lbs. The first week I dropped about 3 - 4 lbs, after that it slowed down. I look at it as knowing that I am doing something positive for myself and not focusing to much on scale. Since I started I can now walk further (and faster), just found out that I can actually touch my toes, and don't get winded playing softball just going to first. I know that these are positive changes that will last. If you do things the right way, lose the weight and increase the activity level the changes will become permanent. To me that is better than losing a bunch of weight fast and not knowing how to maintain that loss when I'm done. Don't give up, good luck.0

The initial loss is water weight. It always comes off fast. Anything more than 2 pounds a week(really 1-1.5) isnt good. Slow and steady keeps the weight off! Keep at it. The next thing you know you will be 25 down.0

Patience, persistance, and perseverance my friend!
I agree with the previous poster- week 1 is mostly water weight. A healthy, sustatinable and lasting rate is 1-2lbs pr week.
You didnt gain the weight in a few weeks- it will take some time to get it off and if you want to KEEP it off, the changes you are making should be things you can do everyday so you don't end up back where you started!
You can do it!0 -
First the good news...You've been making changes and in 2 weeks you've lost 11lbs. Say it again....11lbs in 2 weeks. That is awesome!! So lets play a little devil advocate - that is 5.5lbs per week average - nothing to be down about!!
Now for the more blunt statement - stop looking for a miracle!! You have made the right decision by joining this site and making a new healhty lifestyle change. You did not gain over night therefore you will not lose overnight. People with a lot to lose will often lose a larger amount in the first week (to 3wks) which is most often water weight. Depending on your exercise routine and eating habits you will see the numbers slowly get smaller until you start losing 1-2lbs per week. Once you get closer to your goal weight and/or start strength training that number may be 1-2lbs per month!!
If you are continually eating at a deficit you will see the numbers go down, but unless you are working out 3x per day and eating 2000 calories you're numbers are going to be in the 2lb per week range. This range is the healthy range to be in as it provides a more steady loss that will be easily maintained once you reach your goal weight.
Don't get discouraged - the pounds will come off if you have determination. Keep at it. And again... congrats on your first 11lbs!!!!!0 -
Thank you so much everyone for you response. I really appreciate that you took the time to help me out in a low spot. I will continue to stay focused.0
