Blackberries Low In Calories

When I started dieting, I was surprised to find how many calories were in fruit - obviously because of the natural sugars, but back then I didn't know.
I recently looked up blackberries, and 75g of the tasty bad boys were only 32 calories!!
My question, quite simply, is are they for real? Just seems too good to be true...

Had some with lunch today! They are for real!! They are kind of expensive (usually $2.99 for a cup, so 2 servings) but I still buy them every week if my store has them.0

Good to know, blackberry vines grow wild all over our property so we're up to our eyes in berries right now. There's always a Tupperware full on the bottom shelf of the fridge this time of year for my kids to grab whenever, I usually don't eat them but may start.0

most -berries have low calories and natural sugar content. Raspberries are my favorite hands down0

I love the berries, any berries and they are the best low glycemic fruit to eat, also low in cals.0

I pick quarts and quarts of them in the summer here because they grow wild and then freeze them in quart bags. I put a cup of frozen berries in my morning oatmeal and it thaws the berries and cools off the hot oatmeal. The berries taste very fresh that way! Yes, the calories are low but the natural sugars are still there so watch that if necessary. I do the same with raspberries in my oatmeal too- very yummy!0

They are for real. Delicious, nutritious and low in calories. Unfortunately for me, they are outrageously expensive in my area. :grumble:0

Right now is the time for wild blackberries, too. I've been going out every day and picking, then freezing them.
They are so good, and I feel like a Superhero after eating them, with all the nutrients. Must. Go. Out. Now....0 -
Most berries are fairly low in calories. Raspberries are high in fiber, too! :happy:0

I eat a lot of berries of all types. Frozen berries make a great smoothie.0

Just so you all know I work for a fresh fruit company...
The frozen berries are cheap last forever and have exactly the same nutrients as fresh...
even better toss them in your home made smoothie and use less ice - add 1 scoop whey, 1/4 cup non fat greek yogurt and stevia mix it in a blender and you have the BEST desert you have had on a diet!0 -

I live in the UK and they grow wild everywhere, we also have other great berries growing wild such as black elderberries0

If I eat them I swell up ...bummer to be allergic! Berries are your best choice for lower calorie and less carbs )0

They're usually high in fibre too. (I didn't look up blackberries, but I eat strawberries weekly and they're great for fibre). Knowlege is (yummy) power!!!0

All berries are low calorie and low glycemic; apples and pears are also a great choice (oh for very low calorie fruit and low glycemic honey dew melon and cantaloupe)

I grew up in CT and we had raspberry and blackberry bushes everywhere. We'd sit and pick them, and stuff our faces, for hours. Even today, when I stick that first fresh raspberry into my mouth, those memories come back like it was yesterday.
Sadly, I now live where those plants won't grow in the wild. BUT whenever berries are really cheap, I buy several pounds and put them into freezer bags and stash them in the freezer. They keep perfectly until I use them. I mostly put them into plain Greek yogurt with a little sweetener but also use them in smoothies and muffins.
I found 1/2 pints of raspberries at Safeway for 99 cents the other day. Snapped up a few and am hoping to find them on sale again before the season is over.0 -
Current precompetition diet allows 2 servings of fruit, I choose 1/2 grapefruit and 100g blueberries or blackberries. Comes to about 30g carbs. Its better to monitor macros, not calories.0

it's fo realz!!! munch as many of those suckers as you want, guilt free fyi, did you know one cup of celery is only 7 calories? when you are craving something, try and eat 3 cups of celery, i bet you can't even do it, there is so much fiber. craving averted and only 21 calories down. woohoo!0

I had blackberries at the weekend that our sons went out to pick....they and the apples were very healthy, unfortunately the sugar, crumble and custard we had with them...not so much lol

I love frozen blueberries. Every day, I make a smoothie with them, a scoop of whey protein powder, and several handfuls of baby kales and/or spinach.0

They are packed full of antioxidents as well. We planted 3 of them this year because like every one here has stated, they are outrageously expensive.
My husband has been known to eat a whole pint before I could get my hands on a single berry.0 -
I grew up picking blackberries from our garden and really took them for granted. This year has been the first year that I've been able to pick a lot from our own garden, though I soon learnt to only pick what we could eat or they'd rot!
Basically, they grow themselves once they've started here in England, which is perfect as my husband and I kill off most plants!0
