heart rate and walking

So I have my fitbit..love it. Happened onto a smart health walking thing in the clearance aisle at walmart..only steps and heart rate. The step counter and my fitbit...DEAD ON! I couldn't believe it...but anyhow my real question is : is this a good heart rate for walking?

I'm 50 years old (not sure if that matters)

for 85% of my walk my heart rate was running between 140 and 160...was steady around 150 for most of that time ...I have a few steep hills that I do a couple of times where I walk.

I only found really one site that kind of explained it and it sounds like it might be just about right for a really good workout. I average about 3.5 miles an hour. I walk for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes..today it was almost 3.5 miles in 54 minutes.

The hills are probably the reason it's as high as it is, I'm 56 and will average (on a fairly flat course) high 140s to low 150s on a 10km run averaging about 6mph.

What's your resting heart rate? How long does it take for your heart rate to recover when you finish your walk?

it was about 70 - 73 and took about 15 minutes (with my cool down) to get back to that.
