Anyone out there a fan? I'm trying to take it up and I'm interested in finding some friends who are doing it too or people who are willing to share advice.

I'm not actually barefoot but wearing a minimilist shoe....they totally cured my shin splints. I think it is very personal but for me....I can't imagine running in high stability shoes again. Too bad I paid mega bucks for my Brooks from Fleet Feet before figuring this out.

Anyone using the "barefoot shoes" with the toes? My running store is featuring them half price next week ( they say they are not selling) and I am very curious. Only once did I see someone wearing them and that was a teenager in an airport. I am concerned about support as I run 5-7 miles a day 6 days a week.

Do you mean vibrams? I have a pair and I do think they help build up foot strength. They offer protection without too much support. I'm trying to train myself to go totally barefoot but I think they're a good compromise.

I don't barefoot run (yet) but I have read a lot about barefoot runnning. If you can get the Vibrams Five Fingers shoes at half price that is a great deal! From what I have read, though, you have to get used to running in them. So don't expect to be able to go out and run your usual 5-7 miles on pavement with them. Your stride changes with the different shoe. I think there is a lot of literature online about how to get used to running in them. People I know who have them use both for a while depending on the terrain they are running on.
