Hi, I have been a fat athlete for a long time.

I played football. Wrestle. did karate. I would get in shape then out of shape. I think smoking had a lot to do with my quitting off and on exercising. I made the switch to e-cigs in January. I am now exercising 90-120 minutes a day. Usually swimming, elliptical and walking. Swim in the morning. Elliptical at lunch. then a nice walk in the evening. I am becoming buffed. I still have fat but now it's a getting jiggly. I know its being shrunken down. I am excited.

Hey. I used to be an athlete now I am like a yoyo. Gain, los it, keep it off then gain it back. Now I just can't seem to get the motivation to lose again. Tell me what can you your drive and determination? I might need to borrow some or at least see if its contagious...lol

I was an athlete too. In a lot of ways it tought me bad eating habits because I never learned to eat like a normal person. I really believe that diet is 75% of the battle.

Now that I've lost weight (I'm not quite at my goal) I enjoy exercising way more!
  • I created a new workout slogan. "PLAY ALL DAY" I go to the YMCA and swim in the morning. Some laps . some underwater swimming and some treading . I have these webbed gloves call 'DARKFIN' They give me a great upper body tone.

At noon, I go to the elliptical and do that for 40 mins. Nothing strenouts. A good moderate workout for the sweat.

at 6:00 pm I go for a nice moderate stroll for 40 mins.

So, 3 X 40 = 120 mins of playing and having fun. If you make it fun and do different things . it will work!!!

    PLAY ALL DAY.
  • I think "former" athletes often have the most problems with weight. I think we got used to being able to eat 5000 or more calories a day and not having it affect us because we would burn it off. The hardest lesson to learn is realizing that when we stop that level of exercise, the calorie intake needs to shrink our we'll pack it on! I read somewhere that Michael Phelps has to eat 20,000 calories a day to fuel his training. Can you imagine how fast he would gain weight if he stopped swimming but didn't cut calories. That's pretty much what I did...
