Hey, looking for low carb/sugar gluten free main meals, ie. lunches and dinners? I'm a bit on the fussy side with food, no pork or chicken and not a huge red meat eater... I adore fish but don't have it very often as no where near me sells it fresh (only frozen :indifferent:) total fruit and veggie addict so that would be great if possible ??? I'm asking as I know almost all the gluten free foods at the supermarket are super high is carbs/sugar and usually taste like crap.... which doesn't help when you're fussy :flowerforyou:

HI There...I would check out Amazon for gluten free cook books. There are a ton there and many are very good. Just check out the reviews. Skip the gluten free stuff in regular grocery stores but Whole Foods has some great things. Here are a few tips

#1 - foods to avoid - Bread, pasta, Soy - most grains as most have gluten. I avoid pretty much all processed foods.

#2 - Almost every Vege, fruit and of course eggs, and meats are all gluten free (just don't put soy sauce or catsup on them)

#3 - snack foods can be Corn Tortillas but I like Mary Gone Gluten Free crackers - made from seeds and very very clean food.

#4 - Corn tortillas are fine to use instead of bread. Or get Udi Gluten Free Bread at Whole foods. Doesn't taste that great but better when toasted and works when you want to do a sandwich. My favorite sandwich is Udi bread with low mercury tuna and organic low calorie Mayo and regular Mustard.

Once you get the hang of it gluten free is very easy. Just avoid wheat and all wheat products. I eat out all the time and it's not a problem. Also found I feel ALLOT better when I eat gluten free.

    Good Luck!

Thanks, Ive been gluten free for 8 years, just sick of the supermarket foods and wanting to cook more of my own stuff... I have heaps of books but find that most recipes aren't that great for savory foods? I will try the search on here too...
