Exercise with leg injury

What I have done to my right leg remains a mystery, but I can't even walk far before the pain is too intense to go on. Saw a doctor today and she said to go easy for the next 6 weeks, take painkillers (and man up).... However this is horrible for me - I'm a very active person, cycle 8 miles a day just to work, go to the gym 5 days a week and find that exercise is by far the best way to stay within my calorie goal.

Has anyone any recommendations for exercise that I can do without putting strain on my right leg? All help would be hugely appreciated!

    Swimming is the only thing that comes to mind right away. You still have to kick but at least you aren't standing on your legs.
