Hello everyone,

Does anyone have an idea how many calories someone would burn during an hour of a BODY PUMP class?

I don't have a heart rate monitor. Normally I do a heavier weight than most of the participants in the class and just hoping to get an idea of how many calories to log it as. Any suggestions??

I know there are so many variable- just curious.

I rarely take this class, but when I have my HRM has reported 350-375ish.

  • I go twice a week and do fairly heavy weights. I burn normally between 550 and 700 calories a class, depending on which tracks we do.

Wow!! That is great. I really am interested in how much I burn. Looks like I am going to have to get a HRM. :)
  • Sorry this question was asked long ago but I had the same question and found this article http://muscleevo.net/body-pump/ Suggesting 5-6 calories a minute work women. Peace.

Depends on the weights but I would say Zumba-like. Around 400.

According to my HRM between 300-350 is typical. Occasionally a little more, occasionally a little less, but that is where I typically land.

For me (fit, 54kg, lifting decent weight) only 250-300 ish. Everyone is different. Probably halve whatever Les Mills advertise and you'll be more on the money!

For a 55 minute Pump class I too usually burn between 360 and 380 .... (recorded on my HRM) ....

i usually use the "circuit training" values from MFP. they are similar enough that I think it is a reasonable estimate.
