Pick your poisen!

So I have never watched what was in my food before, and now that I am watching I don't know what to do! I have been doing great on my calories and fats, but out of control on Sodium. So I cut my sodium back and now I am over on my sugars! Is it better to be over on one or the other? I drink a ton of water so maybe Sodium is ok? I'm only 30 and I don't have any medical issues.

Thanks!

An easy way to cut back on sugar and sodium is to limit processed foods. For example, the instant oatmeal you had this morning has 24g sugar and 580mg sodium. If you made oatmeal from scratch, added banana, the sweetener of your choice, and spices, those numbers would be much lower. Also, the creamer you used has trans fat in it :-(. I know the label says 0g, but non-dairy creamers have partially hydrogenated oils. Most find that eating fewer carbs, including sugar, leads to easier weight loss. Perhaps you could try swapping a couple processed items with whole foods to decrease your carb and sodium intake.

    What she said^

Just do your best to eat less processed foods. Also, I don't worry too much about sugar if it's natural, like from fruit and dairy. It's the added extra sugars that I TRY to limit.
