I've tried the following so far:

Insanity - good for initial stamina, agility and weight loss, but not suitable to do more than once
Les Mills Pump - very relaxing, but in the end did not build enough muscle
P90X - good ab ripper, but the workouts last too long and, at least for my goal, too many reps to build muscle
Classic strength training - seems like the way to go, but just started so I'll have to wait and see

I must add that my goal is to gain some overall muscle weight without losing tone.

No program. Swimming and weights. Swim 2 miles then lift weights. Sometimes I extend the swim to 5K.
At the Y I go to they also have Axtivtrax which tracks and maps workouts. Haven't used that yet.

Strength training focusing on the major compound lifts.

The P90x and others I've tried just to see, but they felt more like endurance training/cardio than mass building exercises to me.

Beach Body has a new mass building program called Body Beast. I haven't tried it so I can't comment. Otherwise I would just hit the gym for your goals.
