Question about "walking"

I recently had abdominal surgery 2 weeks ago and I'm able to only walk for exercise. I've been doing the treadmill. I've been walking between 3.5-4.0mph and incline 4% for 35 minutes. I'm close to my goal weight and I'm just curious if this low impact cardio is worth it for me? Is it going to do anything for my body? Or should I just wait another 2 weeks and start TurboFire? I just hate wasting my time on something that won't help me reach my goal. I've been working out at high intensity for so long I feel ridiculous walking!

If you aren't in pain while walking, I would think that it would be a good exercise to easily work your core, and help with muscle recovery. Walking will always help with the "body", but might be more enjoyable if you do it outside. Not sure what your weather situation is. Good Luck!0

Any activity level even low-impact cardio is good for getting your HR up and keeping you active, so even if you're not burning a lot or making major gains to a fitness goal, it most certainly isn't going to hurt you at all.
I've not been able to do a serious workout since my pregnancy started, but walking has helped a lot to keep me active and healthy.
Just don't do too much too soon and let your body heal. You can always come back to high-impact stuff later once you're back at 100%.0 -
It's frustrating once you've gotten used to more high impact stuff, but if that's all you can do, go for it. Walking is a very good exercise, even if it's not going to burn as many calories for you. It's how I started off, I lost 10kg with diet and walking alone, then started to get more active after that. Walking is one of the best things you can do if you cannot do anything else.0

Thank you for the responses! I know walking is still probably good for me I'm just not used to not being able to do crazy intense exercise! A walk outside is on the agenda this weekend I need off the treadmill!0

Remember that you'll be able to get back as soon as your body heals. Just keep things in perspective a bit: a few more weeks of low-impact then you'll be able to ease back into your harder workouts. Patience is a really important part of your recovery as is rest.
Hang in there!0
