Couple tips on Treadmills.
1. Go Electric. Many more features and just a lot better imo.
2. Get one that has a weight limit of at least 100 pounds more than you weigh.
3. Save your money until you can buy a good one. If you spend $400 or even $700 on a Treadmill, and you do a lot of running, it will not last long. I have read places that if you spend less than $2000, forget about running on it.
I bought my first one for $350. In three months it was done. Not working. So i bought another one. I paid just over $700. It actually lasted me 5-6 months but that was it. Now I have one that was $1300. It has a 325 pound weight limit and I am 240. I had to adjust the belt twice in the first two months of use. They simply are not built to take a pounding unless you pay $2000 or more.0 -
I have a nordic track one that is about 7 years old, it was $1300 then and it is still going strong. I do not run on it because I do not run, but my son has ran on it many times. The features are very handy for incline and speed, things you just could not do on a non motorized one. Best of luck to ya0

I had a non-electric treadmill years ago and I didn't like it at all. Because it depends on you to make the tread move, it made my gait very awkward.
I agree with the other - save your money until you can afford a good one. Or maybe a good used one - people are always buying exercise equipment and then using them for clothes hangers for a while befroe they diced to get rid of it. You might be able to find some great deals on something like Craig's List, or around here we have Play It Again Sports that sells used equipment.0 -
I would go with the electric model if I was to buy one.
If you are going to run, I would work on form of my running so was not pounding the machine as bad.
I read an article on form of running. They say when you run, you should not be bouncing up and down like you are on a trampoline.
I took notice to how people ran after that. I see what they mean.0 -
Non-electric ones are the devil IMO. so awkward to try to run on.
I'm sure it's an excellent workout, probably tougher than on an electric treadmill, but I'd give up after 15 minutes because of the frustration.0
