So, I'm 25 and was recently diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse with mild mitral regurgitation on August of this year and what told by my doc to lose weight. I was also told to avoid caffeine, soda, tea and chocolates. On most days, i am successful at avoiding these (i usually drank 2-3 cups of coffee a day and love dark chocolates) and it helps control my heart palpitations. To lose weight i took an interest in running couple with the 30 day shred and have been feeling good about it. I noticed that my palpitations did not occur as often as it had in the past (that and switching my meds from a calcium-channel blocker to a beta blocker but makes me short of breath more easily). I have so far lost 6 pounds in a month and was ready to give myself a pat on the back. That is until i decided to run my first 5k and went to my cardio for a check up and a head up. My world shattered just right when she uttered "No running for you unless you wanna develop cardiac failure". So now I don't know what to do. I was told early on that it's a benign disease but then I feel so limited by it. Anyone there have the same dilemma as me? Any suggestions?
