Prozac withdrawals anyone???

I started taking Prozac back in March or April to help with fatigue. It did help for awhile, but eventually I got sick of the side effects. Not being able to sleep (I have 3 boys 7, 4 & 21 months...I NEED my sleep!) and some other ones as well, but sleep was the most bothersome. I started taking it about every other day for a while and then I kept forgetting until itd been over a week since I had taken it. Now I've been feeling like I'm on a Tilt A Whirl alllllll day long and I am exhausted! I know they are probably withdrawals, but I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this before and how long did the symptoms last? I broke down and took a pill last night, but I really don't want to take them anymore. I'm trying to eliminate any hormone disrupters I can and chemicals I can.

Let me be clear though, I wasn't on them for depression otherwise I wouldn't even be thinking about coming off them.

I was on prozac for a while a couple times for depression. When I went off it the first time I had all kinds of symptoms, including whatever came to my head went out my mouth. The second time I went off it I was in the hospital for depression and the doctors put me on different meds that caused me to gain about 50 lbs. Be careful stopping meds on your own. You have to be taken off them really slowly.
  • Thank you for replying. I'm wondering if maybe the Prozac had played a part in the slow weight loss too. I also read that it makes you retain water like crazy too which I also have trouble with. I feel a lot better today after taking that pill last night. Still dizzy, but not as bad.

A friend of mine had symptoms for about a month after coming off an antidepressant, but I don't know which one it was.

Prozac and similar medications are supposed to be tapered off slowly over 4-6 weeks.
