Bathroom Scales

Getting ready to replace my old bathroom scale. Some of the scales advertise they calculate BMI, body fat, body water and oh, weight.
I'm wondering if any of these scales are accurate, or is it just a bunch of hype to charge more for a scale. How about a good, accurate body weight scale?

They're accurate with BMI and weight, but not to much water, fat, etc. Even though you're not likely to get an accurate reading, you will get an idea of how those things fluctuate from day to day. For example, the scale might say you have 24% body fat when you really have 21, but you can still see when body fat goes down over time or when you're holding on to water weight.0 -
I got a cheap scale which registers body fat, water and weight and they've been great, very informative and accurate! Never had scales before, I was too scared to get on 'em! LOL0

I don't know I find it freaky to use a scale so often that sends waves through my body to calculate body fat. How safe is that?0

I had to get a new scale also. I got mine off Amazon and it was $20. It doesn't do anything special except tell me how much I weigh lol.0

how does it know how much water is in your body? weird0

I'm curious about them, but you can probably do just as well with a regular scale and a tape measure.0

I think they all conspire together to lie0

I've found that my scale produces a slightly different result depending on where I place it on the floor. I'm guessing that this may be because all areas of the floor in our house appear to be level but they aren't. Has anyone else experienced this?
To compensate for this, I chose a spot for the scale and never move it - that way I at least get consistent results, even if the weight might not be perfectly accurate.0 -
Its basically an ohm meter that reads the amount of resistance in your body and its as safe as holding a AA battery by the two poles with your two index fingers...0

depends on what kinds of "waves" and how strong...a tiny painless elictrical charge? pretty safe most likely, unless you have an implanted defibrillator: http://consensus.nih.gov/1994/1994bioelectricimpedancebodyta015html.htm0 -
