Ok, so I'm going to my first session with a running club on monday. I know I enjoy running but I'm very much still a novice at it. While I'm quite prepared to make a fool of myself with not having a clue, I have no idea what I'm really letting myself in for. Can anyone tell me what goes on at training sessions please? Other than just "running" obviously lol

Mine has a workout every Wednesday that is related to longer runs like a 1/2 or full marathon. It's usually hills, speed runs, tempo runs with groups by pace that sort of thing. Fridays they have a short run, usually 3-5 miles. They also have a fun run every other Saturday, and again they set them up by pace. IE: 10 minute miles, 9 -8 -7 etc. They have different routes so every one ends up at the same breakfast joint depending on their distance.

I meet a lot of nice folks. I am still a novice only starting in March. Go have fun and run!

    It depends honestly.

I was in a running clinic and we did hills one week but another week did tempo at a local track, I missed the speed work day (thankfully)

A girl on my friends list was in one that did trails and the length of time varied every week

Bring a water bottle though and either run with it or if youre at a track, leave it at the side
  • All clubs are different but the one I know is geared to both beginners and regulars and no one gets left behind. There are people of all abilities who go. It sounds like you already enjoy running so I don't think you'll have any problems.
