Logging a 5k?

Any runners on MFP? How do you log in a 5k? I ran one this morning and am trying to track my
exercise for the day. Thanks!

I just go to my exercise and go to create exercise. I always call it the name of the 5k I ran. Did you have on a heart rate monitor? A 5k usually burns around 300 calories for me.

I keep track of how fast I run one and the time I run it... so usually my 5k's are done in 27 minutes, so I log it as 9 min/mile run for 27 minutes. I hope that makes sense!
  • I just check how long I've been running, than count my speed and than log it like "25 minutes, 8mph".

I know it doesn't help now but I would invest in a Heart Rate Monitor, I don't go out for my walk/hikes or 5k's with out it..... Best of Luck...

I also recommend a HR monitor as that makes things a little more accurate. Plus stats say we burn 100 calories per mile for a person 150 pounds. So, I am 180 pounds which means I'm 20% more - so I calculate miles x120 (120%) so 3 miles gets me 360 calories (instead of the 300 for a 150-pound person). So, If I don't have my Garmin, I go by that kind of calculation. It isn't rocket science so it doesn't have to be exact and better to under-estimate than over estimate and I usually don't eat all those back.
