Narcoleptic and need help

I'm not sure if there are others on MFP with narcolepsy, but I'm sure that others can help me with this. I need energy. My body is constantly trying to get me to fall back asleep which results in daily low energy. Part of the reason I'm on here is to track what I eat and how I feel after I eat specific types of food. They have "awake" pills that are more harm than good, and I'd love an alternative to coffee. So any ideas for energy that I can eat/drink throughout the day?

i always look to my diet first. Do you know if you have any gluten intolerance? I have heard that if you avoid certain food groups as a narcoleptic that might help. It's really all about you, what works for you might not for someone else and visa versa. But I would definitely look at your diet first and see if there is something (like Gluten) you shouldn't be taking. Also, have you gotten your D3 levels tested? I would do that first. I was very tired last year and had mine tested. it was 9 and normal is over 30 at least. Vitamin D3 can really affect your energy too. But I would get tested first to make sure your levels are low. D3 and Gluten, my two best recommendations.

I had stroke induced narcolepsy for a couple of years. My Dr. had me on neurontin for that & for some other symptoms I was having. It did help the narcolepsy to get better. I hope you find some answers!!
