Other Women Over 60?

Hello everyone! I joined a few days age and very excited to be part of this group!
I am 62 and five years ago I was 300+ pounds. I don't know how much over because I refused to get on a scale when I hit 300. I had high blood pressure, low thyroid, GERD, and sleep apnea. I slowly lost 100 pounds and no longer had GERD or sleep apnea (yay) but a couple of years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (boo!).
I joined MyFitnessPal a few days ago.

I just had a diabetes wellness appointment with my doctor and all my numbers --blood pressure, lipids, kidney and liver function, glucose, A1C, etc. were good except, of course, for my weight. Go me! I want to keep those good numbers! I'm going to be a first time nanna in November (gotta love that alliteration!) and I want to see that little baby grow up!
The tools here (food and exercise diary) are a great help. I do 30 minutes on a stationary bike and walk 30 minutes every day. Twice a week I go to the gym and do resistance training. I've given up diet soda and now only drink water. What a difference that has made! I've always heard that advice and ignored it. No more! I can see how many carbs I've eaten which helps me with my blood glucose control.
I hope there are some other 60+ women on the boards (or anyone else! LOL!) who'll be willing to friend me. I'd love to offer and receive encouragement. Thanks so much!

Hi I'm another 60+. I am 61 and currently weigh in at 188. I've been on Weight Watchers for the last two+ months and have lost nearly 14 pounds. A friend told me about MyFitnessPal.com and I'm trying it out before my online subscription to Weight Watchers ends. It is a bit of a chore logging all my food and exercise on the two forms, but it seems to be worth it.
I don't know about you, but losing is harder the older one gets. I'm really happy that this is working for me. One to two pounds a week is fine with me. Sure I'd like to lose faster, but slow and steady means less sagging skin, so slow it is.
One advantage to Weight Watchers is they allow you all the veggies and fruit you want (within reason of course). I find the hardest part is inputting food that I get when I didn't prepare it. I just have to guess and that makes me nervous that I'm underestimating it. I guess the proof is in the scale at the end of the week.
If there are any other 60+ out there, I'd love to hear from you.0
