Fit bit vs a heart rate monitor??

Any thoughts on these?? What's better more accurate? Brand suggestions? warnings? Would love to hear from people that have used or use either. Just doing some research for my own personal use.

I know the fitbit requires a subscription that isn't cheap. Even buying a polar f4 would be ok. That is the one I hear the most about. Amazon is usually cheapest

Actually, the fitbit does not require a subscription so you are wrong there. You can opt for a premium service, but most of us do just fine with their free service which has lots of options for logging food, extra exercise, heart rate and weight goals and the like.

To the Op, I use both as the fitbit is not much good for most workouts, and I cycle and do elliptical a lot, so I use a polar ft4 hrm for my workouts and wear the fitbit the rest of the time. I log the hrm starting times and duration on mfp, then the fitbit synchs and adjusts its own count. It works pretty well unless the site is having a bad day.

they are completely different tools. Fitbit is meant to figure out the calories you burn all day. HRMs are meant to calculate calories burned during cardio exercise, and are not meant for all day wear.

I have an HRM, I love it its a Polar FT4.

HRM are used to keep track of calories burned during exercise and fit bits are used to monitor your calories burned all day.

So I guess it depends what you want to use it for.
