1200 Calories A Day

MFP has me at 1200 calories a day. When I used the BMI calculator under tools, my BMI is 1420. I've been staying close to 1200 and have been losing but I have seen posted on here several times that you should eat what you BMI is. Which is the correct way? Is it really unhealthy to live on 1200 calories a day?

1200 is a preset value that MyFitnessPal has set as a minimum, since 1200 is the standard minimum of a healthy diet.

it depends also how many pounds you want to lose a week, the more you put in there the less calories it gives you and if you add a sedentery (sp check) life then thats probably why ... if its too hard to do it on 1200, you're gonna have to lower the pounds for week you want to lose or do exercise ...
i had 2 pounds per week and no exercise and it put me at 1200 cal too but it was very hard for me so I changed it to 1 pound a week and it gave 1600 cals, i rarely make it to 1600 i usually eat 1200 - 1300 but knowing i can have more makes me relax0 -
As you get closer to your goal it is a good idea to lower how many pounds you lose a week. Generally 2 pounds per week is only safe and a good idea for those who are obese.0
