Ok...so I've been considering doing the master cleanse for some time now, but have heard lots of mixed reviews! Has anyone done a cleanse or detox diet that can offer some suggestions or tips? I know there are some health risks involved (depleting healthy bacteria in the intestine, slowing the metabolism, etc). Any information will help! Thanks and happy new year

I wouldn't just do a whole detox/cleanse diet.
If you like spicy food, add some cayanne.
And lemons will help.
Plus drink lots of water.0 -
My friend did the master cleanse I think for 5 days. She was extremely pleased with the results. You can restore your good flora in your colon by taking acidophilolus (sp?) supplements.
I am actually going to be doing a liver flush this weekend. It is a natural way to get rid of gall stones. so I will be fasting for 24 hours. I did one in November too.
BTW...I am a PSU grad too! I am in Oregon now!0 -
Your body naturally cleanses itself when you eat healthy, think whole grains, fruits and veggies, lean proteins, and a lot of water. Just cut out the processed foods... cleanses aren't safe or healthy

I have done to Master Cleanse several times. I loved it.
My suggestions are:
*Read the book first if you haven't already. (Its a cheap and easy read)
*Make sure you are educated and doing this for the right reasons.
*Ease into it. Wean off solid food slowly and wean back on slowly.
*Don't try to avoid the salt water part of it. You need to evacuate 2 or more times daily.
*Take it easy. Make sure you can lessen your responsibilaties for the duration. Listen to your body. If you need to nap. Nap.
*Use probiotics at the end to replace the healthy bacteria.
This is a really good site that I found. http://themastercleanse.org/
They have forums, instructions, etc. Worth looking at.
Also, I highly recommend this site: www.elsonhaas.com
Dr. Haas has additional nutrition and medical information related to many different detox methods.
Feel fre to PM me for support if you like.
