<< yes this is really me. I hate that my head is cut off there.
My husband and I have been married 23 years and we are happy. He loved me even when I was obese. When I make fun of my "fat" pictures he scolds me and says I was always his lovely wife, even then, and he had better not ever hear me disparage myself again. And he is quite right. My full story here http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/740340-i-lost-60-lbs-at-age-51-anyone-can-any-workout
Anyway on to the topic. One of the really cool things about becoming fit at 50, the time when many exerience "mid life crisis", is that you give your spouse something special. Randy gets teased all the time now that "He has a new wife". And he does! He is the envy of his friends. Besides being happy myself, healthier, and living my dream, I love that I gave him this gift.
We both work for the Sheriff's dept and yesterday he worked and I had the day off. When he was at the office with a bunch of the guys the Lieutenant came up right in front of them and said "With all due respect, your wife is HOT". Randy was beaming and the guys all remember me at my peak weight and they were all talking about what an amazing transformation and that Randy was sure a lucky guy. It made him really happy. He is mostly happy because it makes me happy, but he is enjoying this too. I feel great that he has this.
Yeah, I know I'm a ham now. But I hate that my head is cut off up at the top there so I'm posting the full picture. I spent the first 50 years of my life hiding from the camera and I intend to be a ham and enjoy life for the next 50 years, like it or not, that' what I'm going to do. I am living my dream! But also, I hope to inspire and help other people in mid life to NOT GIVE UP. I almost did give up.

I am glad that you did not give it up. You worked hard and your earned it. You are an inspiration to other 50 year old like myself.
I might also add...That both women and men younger and older could learn from you. Good luck. :flowerforyou:0 -
You look awesome, and I agree. A friend gave a toast on his 50th that he was glad to be at the age when no one expects him to be fit. Another on another occassion said he carried the heavy old TV upstairs 10 years ago and he wouldn't be able to carry it up or down today. For me, I am faster and stronger at 50 than I have ever been in my life, and I plan to take that as far as I can in the coming years. Then at some point I will have to be satisfied with being among the fastest and strongest in my age group rather than new personal records, and that will be satisfying too.0

You are an inspiration for sure and it's wonderful you have a good marriage as well:)
I am 59 and will be 60 in December. My plan is your plan, to inspire women my age to not give up. So many of my friends I went to school with are way overweight, they have no outdoor activities and many are focused on their families, totally. But it is not a healthy focus because they are not taking care of themselves. One gal is my best friend from school and she doesn't eat enough to keep a bird alive and she has an excess of body fat. There is the proof for the "lie" that eating less makes you lose fat. I have shared what I am doing with her but to no avail. But I know it might help someone. I try never to preach to people but I have learned so much and I see improvements in me since I started this journey back in May or June(have to check for exact date).
Anyway, you are a real cutie and I am going to check out your food diary for some ideas too. I get kind of in a rut, same ole foods. I hope you've logged your exercise because I'd like to know your routine on that as well.
Thanks for sharing and encouraging me this a.m. even though I am 10 years older. I know I can do this, be the best I can be:)

Yes you are a great inspiration to those of us who will be turning 50 even though still I have a couple of years. I have never had a weight problem until late in life but I am here to show everyone that I don't need pills or some type of surgery to lose this weight. Not that I have anything against those that do have surgeries, I do know alot of women who have had the surgeries and in the end end up gaining the weight back and then some. But seeing you just tells me that it is an obtainable goal and it can be done so thank you once again for sharing your journey with us!!!!!!!!:flowerforyou:0

LOL Being over 50 is freakin AWESOME. I don't ever want to go back to being younger. You can be fit and have all the wisdom of just being alive for 50 years and all the lessons you have learned along the way. Seriously I never want to be young again when I think of all the insecurities and lack of wisdom of our younger days. Not that I'm not insecure, but if you worked hard at something and did without and paid off your debt you feel more secure say than a younger person still in the process of all that stuff.0
