So, I was wondering if someone who previously has had a low activity level could become almost addicted to the gym? I have been going every day since the 18th. I am struggling with needing to stay home today. I find myself trying to figure out how to get a workout in. I need to stay home and study for a test on Mon....oh how I want to go to the gym!

Yep, did no exercise at all 14 months ago, started walking, joined a gym and did 40 mins cardio 3 times a week. Now I do 4 hours strength training a week (weights and interval training), 2 classes (step and LBT), swim twice a week (2 x 20 mins), run once a week (5.5 miles at 6mph), and I make up the rest of my gym time with cardio (in total I work out between 90-120 mins a day). Sunday is a day of rest.

I have worked up to this level, and I rarely go over 120 mins of exercise a day unless its walking. I have had a few minor injuries, and I attribute that to a good personal trainer who taught me to lift with proper form.

This amount of exercise is not for everyone, but I love it and get twitchy when I have to stop exercising. I have also learnt that resting is just as important, so my day off is important to my fitness as is a good nights sleep.

I am a gym addict :blushing:

It's easy to become addicted to something that gives you such a buzz and a sense of accomplishment. We all should do things that make us feel good about ourselves. When it starts impacting your health and becomes time consuming then you need to keep it in check and really question why exactly you're doing it.

In 11 months, I hit a plateau 3 months ago.
