"If you talked to your friends the way you talked to your body, you would have no friends left." - Marcia Hutchins
I found this quote a couple weeks ago and it hit me right between the eyes.
I've never really thought about it this way....but it's true.
Just as I'm sure everyone does, there are times when I can be downright mean when speaking to and about my body.
But, I would never, ever speak to a friend the way I speak to myself and if someone spoke about my thighs or belly the way I do I'd walk away, insulted and infuriated.
What are your thoughts on this and have you ever come across a quote or saying that really altered your way of thinking about something? Please do share.

I guess most of us find it acceptable to talk to ourselves that way. Maybe we think its how others would talk to us if they could speak their mind? I doubt it. It is (in my case anyway) LOW SELF ESTEEM! We are much harder on ourselves than we need to be. My opinion for what its worth!0

"Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels."
I don't know the author.0 -
"Your body won't run on 635 calories a day just because you decided it would." -Matchstick Molly (blogger)
I have had issues with disordered eating in the past, thinking things such as "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels" (sorry, flashbert, but I highly disagree with the implications of that statement) were the law and forcing my body to throw up these forbidden foods was the only way to clean myself of the guilt. Either way, this further helped me recover from this mental anguish and put things into perspective.
I also really like "I exercise because I love my body, NOT because I hate it." It's just one of those sayings I've seen around and that has really stuck with me too. I love myself, and I am doing all of this to make my awesomeness even more awesome, inside and out.

When life makes you have to put up with mean and hateful people, just think of them as sandapaper. The may scratch you, rub you the wrong way, but eventually you end up smooth and polished, and the sandpaper...is just gonna be worn out and ugly.0
