I know this isn't directly related to diet or weight loss but it's an issue that's really been hard to deal with. I've tried googling and my search didn't come up with much.
I've only recently gained weight in the past two months. Everything I used to be able to wear to work no longer fits. My uniform attire is jeans with a blue, black or grey polo. Even though my jeans fits perfect two months ago they no longer get even close to buttoning and my shirts don't stay around my hips.
I'm incredibly broke so the way I have attempted to remedy this is with clothes from Goodwill and church clothing give aways... but my boss often tells me they are not professional looking because they are too worn, too washed, and off color and not of professional fit. I've been written up for not being according to dress code.
I have no money left to purchase anything else so I wondering if any of you have any sneaky home tricks for getting into those clothes that are a tough fit.

Try spraying your jeans with water- that will make them stretch and you might be able to get them on. Then, sleep in them. Not super comfortable but it'll fix the problem.0

As for shirts and stuff, try soaking them over night in old water than drying on the washing line.0

Those are both good ideas! Thank you! I'll try them right now and hope they work in the morning. My boss will be so surprised if I come to work looking like I used to!0

I've taken my shirts when they are still wet from the wash and stretched them before shaking them out and hanging to dry. Are you watching your sodium? I lost nearly 6 pounds in 1 week and I THINK that was mostly because I got my sodium intake under control and probably lost a lot of water I'd been hanging on to. I hope you get some helpful solutions.0

Well I was on tour for about a year straight and without a kitchen, access to grocery store and usually not even a microwave in our cheap hotels on a normal basis. I think in the last few months all my bad eating finally settled in my body because it seemed to happen all at once. I'm sure it could be worse. At least I stayed away from most fast food places.
But I'm definitely going to try this water trick! Thank you!!0 -
In the first couple of months when pregnant women gain a little weight but aren't big enough for maternity wear they either a) put an elastic band around their pants button, through the hole and back around the button (then they're just not done up all the way - that'll give you an inch or two) or b) use a belly band - it's like a tube top that wraps tightly around your waist over undone pants and holds them up... looks like a long tank top under a regular shirt. The layered look. These solutions assume, of course, your butt fits in the pants still. For tops, maybe just stick to stretchy fabrics. If you can get away with these two pants solutions, the shirts may look alright since you won't have a big muffin top or anything.0

Thank you so much for the input! Unfortunately, my shirt has to be tucked in! I probably should have added that to the post too. My fault!0

That's such a tough situation! It's frustrating when employers don't understand that clothes cost money - I had a boss who required us to wear a specific type of pants and we were getting paid minimum wage. Sorry, no money for special pants!
It might be worth looking for those body shapers...this link I found has some that would help that are $30. I know it's a lot, but if it works with all of your outfits you already own, it may be worth it.

I buy all my clothes at the thrift shops. I only wear dark blue jeans and no pants of mine can have back pockets. If you take the time and really look, you can find what you are looking for. They do not need to be expensive. Go to more than one store, go to many, on different days of the week and at different times. Places like Value Village are a bit more expensive but they do sell name brands.0
