20 pounds, 2.5 months…

My 21st birthday is in the middle of December. I am making diet and fitness changes to live a healthier life, not to fit in a new dress, and I know that the number on the scale is not something to get caught up in. Buuuuuuut, I would love to hit 260ish by my birthday. It would just be a nice thing, I think. I'm at 281 right now, down from 285.

Is 20 pounds reasonable in 2.5 months? I've lost four pounds in two weeks, but I'm not sure if that's something that I will keep doing or if it was just the initial drop off. I average 1,700 calories a day and I am exercising three times a week. My average net calories would be lower, but I let myself relax on the weekends. I'm willing to be strict on those too if this is actually an attainable goal. I guess that's my main concern – if that's just NOT something that could likely happen, I'm not going to limit my weekend socializing and fun.

Has anyone else had these sort of results – particularly those who are very overweight like me? I know that everyone is different, but I'd love some anecdotal evidence. :)

    That's about 2 pounds/week, seems do-able.

I've lost 25 pounds in 3.5 months. Started at 265. Have been doing low-carb so I haven't hard to starve myself. Just kept with the plan. And had some weeks when I ate too much, I think too. :)

although the scale is important think about the measurements too. I "only" lost 4lbs in the last 3 weeks but when I go measured I had lost 4 inches around the waist! As for the scale yes it is a reasonable goal but consider measurements too because usually if the scale doesnt go down I get disheartend until I started measuring :D
