No Candy October

I have a major sweet tooth and Candy-CHOCOLATE is something I LOVE! I need a challenge to stay away from the good stuff. After all this is the month when candy is every where you look. I love it but hate it when I am trying to have success in my waist line. Who is with me? No candy.. NONE for a solid Month!

I'm in!
I've been even thinking about Halloween, and deliberately buying candy I don't like to hand out to the kids (I'm looking at you, Butterfingers) or just handing out glow sticks.0 -
@ elcmum wouldn't it fit better on your mind to give the kids fruit rather than candy of any kind? :happy:0
-
Awesome! We should all come up with great ideas for kids besides Candy! Like stickers or pencils!0
-
YEP!< THATS EASY!0
-
Yes! Totally doing this. I eat too many reeses peanut butter cups.0

I am OUT. I love candy. And I will eat ALOT of it leading up to Halloween and after.0
-
Good luck (I've give it up for three weeks before so it can be done!), although I think this is the cruelest month to do that to yourself.0

Ditto. I'm just gonna roll in a pile of it and it will fly into my mouth, as is the natural way of candy.0 -
I'm in!!! No candy for Halloween either.0
-
I'll give this a try0
-
I'm sorry but this is something that I can not take part of. I love chocolate and candy. All of it. But good luck guys!0
-
So in! I think I am worse with Halloween treats than Christmas baking!0
-
You're on sista! :drinker: Of course I'm cheating because I hardly touch it anyhow, LOL!!!0
-
Nope, can't do. I just leave room for it!0

HAHA. Do you melt the chocolate and peanut butter before you roll in it?0 -
Give some kids fruit, stickers, or pencils on Halloween and you might wake up to plenty of toilet paper in your yard the next morning
No kid ever goes out trick or treating and says "I hope I get a ton of fruit this year!"
I won't be eating a lot of candy, luckily I've started finding it too sweet, but I know how I am. Once I tell myself it's off limits it will be all I can think about0 -
I'm so in on this. Candy is a big weakness for me lately (and it never used to be grr!)0

As a parent, I wouldn't allow my kids to eat fruit given out by a stranger. razor blades and all that. Besides, giving fruit might just get your house TP'D.0 -

It would be great if kids would enjoy that stuff without retaliating on my house. My Mum handed out raisin packets years (decades) ago and her front yard (about an acre of all trees when we lived up north) got TP'd. Where I lived a couple years ago I would have got my tires slashed & where we live now I would get my front yard torn up and spray-paint on my house.
As much as we would all like a perfect world, unless we go back & undo the candy-making industry, we just need to all learn self-control. The one good thing about Halloween is that the kids are WALKING through neighborhoods and getting exercise - sometimes the parents even walk with them! Exercise & family togetherness - in this day & age take what we can get! I'll give each older kid two pieces (snack size) and younger kids one piece.
With that said, I can't give up my dark chocolate at night - I have 1 or 2 squares of Lindt 70%, but I only buy Halloween candy I'm allergic to so I can't eat it (I have Celiac's so there is a lot I can't have TG!).
Best of luck to you Nocandytober :flowerforyou:0 -
One of my big dietary changes has been "if I'm going to eat chocolate, it's going to be chocolate worth eating" THAT has made a HUGE impact, as quality chocolates are expensive, so now, it's a rare treat, rather than a candy bar every time I get gas/drinks/make a pharmacy run/go to the grocery store ETC.
I have also found that with the dramatic cut in sugar, I am MORE than happy with a piece or two rather than a whole lot, but folks, sorry, I can't go the whole month without chocolate. STILL a hefty craving around that time of month, even if its for a taste rather than a bar.0 -

teehee!!
i feel like depriving myself of candy for an entire month would lead to a candy binge of epic proportions.0 -
I did this last year and it really wasn't all that hard. When I wanted something sweet I ate something sweet....just not candy. I would have sugar free pudding or something like that. Now I barely eat candy but I know this is the time of the year when it becomes available everywhere.
I also think kids don't care about candy...SURE they want it but when they get home and get something unique and different they normally LOVE it. I use to get a tooth brush from a family every year-LOVED it! I was given dollars and all ....0 -
I'm out. I gave up alcohol this year. That's enough. All other vices are in effect.0
