Keto diet--has anyone tried this? (endomorphs?)

I came across an article about ketogenic diets today and was wondering if anyone has had experience with this kind of thing? It doesn't seem that different from eating clean, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

keto =/= whatever you consider eating "clean"
Any reason why you would want to go the keto route vs a more balanced diet?0 -
If you're genuinely interested, a free resource would be something like marksdailyapple.com, for about $15 you can get a book called 'The Paleo Solution" by Robb Wolfe. It's worth at least reading free stuff online "balanced" diets are bull0

I followed a ketogenic diet. It works, but I would recommend a more balanced approach. As soon as I introduced carbs, my weight spiked and had to restabilize. In addition, I was lacking nutrients and my fingernails were horrible, I was cold, etc. etc.
Just my opinion based on my experience.
Edited to add: Also, I didn't follow Paleo. I'm sure there are more balanced ketogenic diets than what I did.0 -
I follow a keto diet. But I allow myself a cheat day once a week. My weight doesn't "spike" as some has said and I'm steadily losing weight. But if you are planning on living this way make sure you do your research. Is there any particular reason you are choosing a keto diet? Because it honestly is not right for everyone.0

they work.
I prefer carb cycling instead, because if you're trying to lift and excel at anything, you're going to need some carbs.
What you eat and when you eat it has an effect on your body composition. People might debate that, but spend some time doing it and you'll know.0 -
The reason low carb high fat works for some people is that for some, carbs do not convert to energy, and instead get stored as fat. That lack of energy triggers more eating.
And that is also why when many people achieve their goal weight, they add carbs back and the weight comes back too.
I cannot add processed carbs, white starchy vegetables or grains back when I get to my goal weight. Not if I want to stay healthy.
I have done little experiments along this journey as well. Every time I my carbs go above 80g per day, even if my calorie intake doesn't go up, my weight loss stalls.
I have to shift my balance more toward fat. If I ever did "balance 1/3's" I'd never lose weight and my cholesterol and blood sugar would still be high.
Viewing any food plan as a diet instead of a long term change is eating inevitably becomes temporary. That is why dieting nearly always fails.
Just my $0.02. I am not a doctor nor do I play one on TV.1
