If your are close with your grand kids, how is your love different for them than your own children?

Grandkids are the best! Now I get to be the one that never (well, rarely) says no and spoils them rotten, rather than the one that has to deal with them after others do.

The love I have for them is different but not less than what I had for my own children.

I just see how grandparents eyes light up when they talk about their grandchildren. And the permissiveness is also something that seems common too.

One thing I've noticed is having been through it all - baby, child, teen to adult - I am much more tolerant with the grandkids than I was with my own children. It drives my daughter crazy when I just smile or laugh fondly when she tells me something that she thinks is such a big deal (as did I when my she was young) but I now know is just a normal and insignificant part of growing up.

But it's probably good that parents make a big deal of it and aren't as tolerant as grandparents become. I love being the good guy all the time.
