Fiber.

Okay guys, so I genuinely have no idea, and this probably sounds really silly, but I'm constantly over my fiber goal.

My first real attempt at losing weight was Weight Watchers--waaaaaay back in the day, though; like....six or seven years ago--and one of the main focuses of the program back then was an emphasis on high fiber foods. (The base of the points depended on the grams of fiber present). Now I guess I just naturally tend toward higher fiber foods? I don't know. I was just wondering a.) whether anyone else had that problem, and b.) whether it's something that could impact results following MFP.

Like I said, probably a really simple question that I could google, but figured I'd give it a shot here first.

Thanks!

Yes, I'm often over on fiber as well.

I view the fiber goal as a minimum to achieve - - - not a maximum to stay under.

how high is the level mfp gave you? the automatic it set for me was waaaay under what it should have been. I think I set it at like 30 or something and its been a lot harder to eat under calories/sugar/fat and still make fiber and protein goals.

I agree. There are some things that you should try to go under, others you should try to exceed. I believe the fiber is the minimum recommended number.
  • Never really heard of someone going to far into the fiber jungle. I know this is a crappy situation but I think you're doing fine.

It only gives me like 19 or 20. I don't do any kind of supplements or anything either--just eating like wheat bread instead of white, you know?

Fiber is good for you, it will increase your bowel movements, not enough can cause constipation. Your body needs fiber, I wouldnt worry about going over. As others have said MFP is probably giving you a minimum because you should eat high fiber foods.
