Hi. I am 47 year old and have no diabetic problem. I want to reduce weight and reduce fats around my tummy, stomach etc. I am not sure what should I control.
Should I be controlling sugar or fats or calories intake? What if I just control calories intake without bothering much about sugar (especially since I don't have diabetic tendency)?
Request advise from friends here.

If you are NOT diabetic, than it simply should be cals in cals out.
Meaning, you eat less than you burn.
If you are asking can you eat sugar? You can, but generally sweet things are calorie dense, so you can easily fill up your daily allotment by eating sweets.
So, moderation and a good excercise plan (ideally, although not necessarily required for weight loss) and you are set.0 -
Thanks zachatta for that quick and useful response. Yes I agree that sweets have to be eaten in moderation for calary quota to be maintained and I definitely do that. However the website shows sugar quota exceeding every day and hence was getting worried. I do exercise 4-5 days a week, whcih allows me to eat a few more calories0

don't track sugar then
if you're not diabetic you don't need to, use that spot instead to make sure you get enough fiber, or watch your sodium intake, or whatever other thing you want to watch...
I eat about 80g of sugar a day...
Just make sure your calories are in a reasonable deficit, and the rest will sort itself out.0 -
if you like and eat a lot of fresh fruits, your sugar will always be high. don't track that, but track sodium and fiber instead.0

Thanks Robin and Captain Apollo for the inputs. Yes I eat at least two servings of fruits daily and that is the reason for sugar excess. Generally my fibers quota also tends to exceed; however going by your email it appears that there is no problem with it? Sodium I will definitely watch and won't allow it to exceed.0
