By logging and staying as close as I can to my calorie allotment, how long will it take to lose 40 pounds?

If you sign up for a pound a week and stick to it, then it will take 40 weeks. It's a slow, steady thing, although sometimes it comes off faster.
If you are hitting your pound a week goals and aren't making that, then you need to look at your diary and your calories and re-evaluate.
It takes a long time to put on weight and a long time to take it off and keep it off.0 -
