How to choose my calorie intake?

I joined MFP earlier this year and so far have lost 16 lbs. When I entered my weight this morning, MFP "alerted" me that since I have lost over 10 lbs since I last set my goals, that I should consider adjusting them. I selected for MFP to automatically make the adjustments for me. However, I am concerned that perhaps my goal is dropping to too low a level. Previously my daily intake goal was something like 1360 or 1390. Now MFP has my daily intake at 1290. I know this is still technically a healthy level, but I've seen conflicting information via other websites. I've used online calculators that say my BMR is between 1461 and 1693 (depending on site). Any thoughts or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

As you only have 10lb left to lose you should have your loss rate set to 0.5lb a week which will give you more calories

If you only have 10lbs to lose, change your weight loss goal on here to .5lb/week. Or just eat above your BMR and below TDEE.

Yep, the leaner you get, the smaller your deficit should be. Fat loss slows down the less you have so be patient.

decrease your weight loss rate to a lower number. It sounds to me like you should be eating more like around 1500 cal range... Try to chose something manageable and maintainable.

With the small amount of weight you have left to lose, change your Goals to be "Lose 1/2 lb per week." Set you Activity Level realistically for your life. You should be given enough calories. It's important that you eat back your Exercise Calories at this point to avoid metabolic slowing.

    Keep it simples.

You're going to get all kinds of advice in this thread. Just use this site the way it is intended to be used, and you'll be fine. Really. People are going to tell you to figure your TDEE and BMR, yadda yadda, but this site works fine if you are honest and not too aggressive in your goals. All the rest of the calculations are based on the same algorithms. Why complicate things?
