I got a meat grinder to grind my own meats and want to know the leanest/lowest calorie Beef.
I can get the 96% lean from walmart of ground beef and it is 130 calories per 4oz and is 4grams of fat
I have done a search and find eye round is the leanest but it is about 144calories for 3.5oz so there must be a leaner one right?

Personally I've just gone with a 93/7 and not worried about it.0

I do the 96% and want something that will be that lean as it is $5lb to buy and I have 5 kids so I need to stretch my dollars0

Eating fat doesn't make you fat. But fattier, cheaper, and tastier beef to grind. You'll save money, enjoy it more, and won't turn into fatty mcfatties because you at 70% or 80% lean beef.0

thanks for the info. I already know 'fat' doesn't make you fat. I am wanting the leanest beef so I can grind my own and we need the least sat fat too just for health reasons not cause I think I will get fat0

I would actually talk to your local butcher or the head of the meat department at your grocery store. Or Google it. I really have no idea, but think it's really cool that you got the grinder and are going to grind your own meat. As far as the cost you are looking for, I don't see how you can get any kind of lean steaks for that price to grind down unless you go to a farm and buy an entire side of beef...which is a whole crapload of meat...some of my friends have done it and gone in with several other families to portion out the meat, but then you would be ending up with some cuts that are not as lean as you are looking for.0

thanks!!
losts of cuts are in roasts and are around $2-3lb just trying to find out what is usually used in the 96% lean ground beef
I am wanting to mix it with ground chicken breasts for dishes0 -
You're welcome! I hope you find out!0
