Can anyone recommend good songs for a workout playlist? That isn't pop/hip hop music? Music is what fuels a lot of my workouts and moods and lately everything is so stale..Whenever I look up a workout playlist I get results like Lady Gaga and stuff..which doesn't motivate me at all. I like anything Rock/Metal/Punk most alternative music, a little bit of dubstep not too much. Help?

I created this playlist, and sometimes I get tired of it. I stop listening to it, only to go back to it a few weeks later.
    Apocalyptica's I don't care
Metallica's The House that Jack Built/ Until it Sleeps
    Imagine Dragons Radioactive
    Breaking Benjamin So Cold
Korn ft. Skrillex Get up (just to fulfill the light dubstep)
Marilyn Manson Tourniquet (this is just a great song for any occasion)
    Sevendust Denial
Korn Shoots and Ladders (its silly but why not)
    Incubus Pardon Me
    Incubus Drive
AWOLNATION Sail (a great rallying of the spirits kind of song)
Aphex Twin Windowlicker (this is going to be for either cool down or warmup)

This is what I have on my playlists so far, the rest is either hard core rap or country ( my tastes are eclectic)
  • Indestructible - Disturbed
Down With the Sickness - Disturbed
I'm Shipping Up to Boston - Dropkick Murphys
    Headstrong - Trapt
Killing in the Name - Rage Against
    Click Click Boom - Saliva
    Bodies - Drowning Pool
Blow Me Away - Breaking Benjamin
    Last Resort - Papa Roach
The Hand That Feeds - Nine Inch Nails
Burn MF - Five Finger Death Punch
Love Bites (So Do I) - Halestorm
The Anatomy of a Nervous Breakdown - ReVamp

I am a fan of Spotify. I browse different workout playlists and when I find songs that I like for my workout, I add them to my workout playlist. This helps to update my playlist so it doesn't become stale and it is free to use if you listen to the ads. You could probably browse their rock/metal/punk sections to find some new music to add to a playlist or maybe someone has already created a playlist that you can follow to listen to while working out.

+1 - Spotify also recommends music based on things you've liked before, if you go to "discover". Or if you start a radio station based off a song you like, and then up or downvote recommendations and save the good ones.

I do wish you didn't have to spend time making playlists, though. iTunes used to mix up your library for you. Maybe it still does, I just don't use it anymore

    80s Metallica
    Volbeat
    Megadeth
    Lindsey Stirling
    Disturbed
    Avenged Sevenfold

These are some of my favorites to workout to.
I have a little 8GB mp3 player that I clip onto my shorts and I put the whole library on shuffle. If I'm not digging a track I hit the next button, don't even have to look down.

Good calls, those are both great options. Though SOAD can get a little too mellow for me when working out.

Pretty much all of Withering to Death, and the Marrow of Bone would work, really. Though I'd probably go for Mucc's Kuchiki no Tou album first, if I were going that route. But I always like Dir en Grey's more ponderous works better anyway, like Mazohyst of Decadence.

Speaking of Mucc, I'd listen to the following during a workout as well.

    Suimin
    Daremo Inai Ie
    Bouzenjishitsu

    And for good measure,

Cobalt Blue by THE BACK HORN
