    Wendy's--

Sour Cream and Chive Baked Potato (320 cals) + apple slices (40 cals) = 360 cals
Small Chili (210 cals) + Garden Side Salad with Ranch dressing and croutons (210 cals) = 420 cals
Full sized BLT Cobb Salad without dressing = 390 cals (they have various light/fat free dressings you can choose from)

Taco Bell's Fresco Soft Chicken Burrito with a side of blackbeans is yummy and = 230 cals.

I often get the Fresco Softshell Chicken Tacos. Think it is 350 calories for both.

Maybe not the healthiest under 400 calorie option, but it's filling and yummy

    Chic-fil-a:
    8 count nugget
    Premium Side Salad
1/2 pack of Chic-fil-a fat free honey mustard salad dressing

    380 calories

My absolute favorite "fast food" meal is a 6'' Veggie Sub on Wheat from Subway.
    Toasted, no cheese
    spinach
    lettuce
    tomatoes
    olives
    onions
    green peppers
extraaaa jalapenos (they make you eat it slower somehow)
    Vinegar, but NO oil

all that for 230 cal. So yummy!

And since I work at Schlotzsky's I guess I'll give us a plug too :

Full size garden salad = 61 cal without dressing, 121 cal with one pouch of fat free honey mustard, my favorite!

If you are near a Panda Express, they have a few choices which are under 300 calories, even, if you get the bowl with mixed vegetables.

    Mushroom Chicken
    Angus Steak (super yummy)

A few others... luckily their nutrition info is on the site. Chickfila's chargrilled chicken sandwich with hot sauce is one of my go-to's. Mostly Subway. Something about their turkey and cheese sammiches is just awesome. Also love their roast beef.

The wheat bread is 10 calories heftier than their white bread - the white bread tastes better and is almost nutritiously identical to the wheat. It's coloured brown by caramel colouring anyway.

Someone is going to shoot me but when my family wants to get McDonald's be "bad" for the evening meal I get two regular hamburger's and a large coke. 500 calories. I am not even going to try to make that under 400 calories. Yeah there isn't any nutritional value and yeah there is bunch of sodium but dang it taste's so good and I can be naughty without being too naughty.

McDonald's Southwest Chicken Salad is 390 with grilled chicken and dressing. 290 with no dressing. Sometimes I add a side of apple slices, bringing the meal to 405.

^^^this! I actually love this salad. Whole packet is too much dressing for me though.. I squeeze the lime and half the packet of dressing. Perfect! I do try to scrape off too much extra tortilla chip strips if I can, but otherwise this is a great salad and very filling. With an unsweetened tea this is lunch or dinner for under 350 calories.

Can you pre-cook stuff on weekends or days off? I have Celiac's Diseas & cannot eat fast food (even if it says gluten free, the cross contamination is too dangerous for me), so I prepare foods on the weekend. I cook a bunch of boneless, skinless chicken breast & put 2.5 - 3oz in individual snack size ziplocks. I grab what I need for the day or days, then add frozen veggies as you can always use a micro or steam over a coffee pot in a motel room (just don't add coffee, and use the hot water). If you want, add some shredded cheese or get laughing cow cheese (not the best for sodium but if you've eliminated actual fast food, the extra bit should be OK).
I add in packets of almonds to snack on (Blue Diamond has individual packs of raw plain unsalted almonds that are great for protein, fiber & carb pick-up or even their dark chocolate almonds for a guiltless treat).
Keep apples as they can be eaten almost anywhere with little mess, baby carrots are good fillers.
For quick breakfasts, grab a container of Chobani Greek yogurt (or any brand Greek yogurt) for anywhere from 10 - 18g protein, mix in either almonds or some granola (you can make your own or buy it premade), eat your apple & you're golden for a few hours.
There are better options than fast food - the healthy fast food alternatives are the ones you make yourself, as you don't need to add salt to anything.

I am in same situation as OP :-)

While it sounds good to make it at home, a lot of times business lunches or group meals will require you to go out. For my job we are very very strongly encouraged to eat meals with the teams so we can "network" - it is just part of the job.

I love the ideas - not something you want to do everyday - but always good to hear the healthy options that are available at places. Clearly they aren't as healthy as eating at home would be but if you have to go somewhere, at least you know some good ideas to stay on/close to calorie count!

Love all of these ideas!! Whoever posted this topic is genius ;-) lol But sodium is def the worst part about eating out regardless eating healthy or not. It is just unreal. Sodium is my worst enemy even at home ;-(

Ditto. Sodium was the one thing that once I started tracking it, I had no idea there was so much of it the foods I ate.
  • Wendy's chill with a grilled chicken salad. That is a little less the 400 and if you put your chill on the salad you dont need dressing. :)

For breakfast: McDonalds Egg McMuffin and unsweetened iced tea: 305 cal

FYI, they load of on sodium in pretty much any fast food place, so you'll have to watch for that in your macros.

Just to clarify...sodium is a micro not a macro.
  • Burger King - Veggie Burger with no cheese or mayo...it has lettuce, pickles,
onion and tomato. It is only 340 calories and tastes amazing!
With cheese and mayo it is 410.

If you've got Culver's where you are, their chicken salads are better than salads I've paid 2x as much for a "good" places.
Obviously, you have to walk past the frozen custards.

    Oh, abt 360 calories

My job "requires" us to attend luncheons for safety and awards & I decline as I have allergies. The majority of the people I work with despise me because I say "No" to eating out but the managers understand this is a health risk. The same can be said for anyone trying to be healthy. There is NO healthy way to eat out, regardless of advertising. Most companies now offer wellness programs so for them to "require" you to eat out is absolutely ridiculous & ILLEGAL!!! Being healthy qualifies as a health risk when you eat preprepared foods & NO ONE should make excuses otherwise unless you just really want to eat out on some level. In which case, be true to yourself & admit that & take that into account when you plan your days.

My husband wants to take me out sometimes so we don't have to cook & clean but understands that it's not enjoyable for me & as a result we've both become excellent cooks. I've also altered my cooking & have been able to make "treats" that are healthy, low sugar, high fiber & VERY low sodium. And in case you think I have all the time in the world, I don't. I work 5-6 days a week, 8-12 hours a day. If I'm lucky I get 1 day a week to myself & it's used to cook/bake for me, my husband & our cats (yes, even they eat healthy - and it's improved their wellness in their senior years - big shock there!!)
