I've tried to lose weight on and off for the past 6 - 10 years, and usually give up. The most I've lost is 26 lbs, but have since gained it back plus two pounds and I'm at my ultimate highest weight now, 242 lbs.
I decide to give this site a try since my co-worker/friend says it's great and works for her, so I figure I'd give it a shot. Weight Watchers is how I lost the weight last time, but $18 a month is a bit steep for my budget at the moment.
My goal is to lose about 80 lbs total.
I want to lose 20 lbs by the annual family Christmas party (about Dec 15th)...which at 2 lbs a week, 11 weeks to go that 22 lbs...so it should be do able, and I want to lose 50 - 60 lbs by my 1 year wedding anniversary, 04/21/2013...which is 29 weeks away so at 2 lbs a week that's 58 lbs, so again that should be doable. We shall see, won't we?

Hi - I was also on WW but due to some serious medical issues in the family I took a break and gained the weight back. I have found this so much easier than points.
Two pounds a week is doable, but if you don't make your goals, are you okay with that? I have set myself up for 1 pound a week right now.
