Hey all!
I have lost 27lbs (from 204 to 177) with diet alone. I have not done any scheduled exercise at all. I am looking to begin an exercise schedule.
I need to explain my big issue, I guess.
I am very muscular, for a woman. I had my yearly physical recently. While feeling my neck my Dr. expressed concern that my thyroid may be enlarged. After a good, long feel of my neck he says, "That isnt your thyroid its your neck muscles, did you play a lot of sports when you were younger?"
I did not play sports . . . ever! I was always kinda lazy, actually. When I told him this, he said I was very muscular for a girl. After he completed his exam I asked him what a healthy weight might be for me. He told me the charts said 135ish, but based on my bone and muscle stucture I would be doing well between 145-160lbs. I am 5'3 and my current BMI is 28.5%.
As a result when I exercise I do not tend to look slimmer. Just very . . . manly looking. I would like an exercise that includes a lot of streching. To stretch my muscles longer, if possible.
I was thinking yoga? I am quite flexible, and may enjoy it. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good yoga for beginners video?
Thanks in advance!

I take yoga and I luv it. But I don't know about videos. Maybe take a class in person if you can't find a good one.0

A class would be ideal, except It is hard to find a class offered at a time convenient for me. I have a super busy work schedule and a very sick Father.
I wish I had time for a class! A video may be the best that I can do. I am able to go to the gym because, I can do it almost any time of day.0 -
Get any yoga video. Every one that I have seen that has multiple people performing the moves has someone they identify as a beginner doing moves modified to make it easier.
You may want to try several different styles of yoga. Power yoga is the only type that doesn't bore me to tears but it may not be for you. Your local library probably has videos that you can rent to try out different styles. There are also yoga vids on Netflix and Hulu and probably a trillion on YouTube as well.
My favs are MTV Power Yoga (45 mins, surprisingly effective and the first ever yoga that I enjoyed) and P90X Yoga (90 mins, had as ____).
Good luck!0
