Nervous to try this

I'm currently doing Insanity, on the recovery week before starting month 2. I've been eating about 1600-1750 calories a day which includes 300 extra calories I get for nursing my exclusively breastfed baby. I did an extra run today just for mental clarity, nothing long or particularly fast, and I'm starving. I've been doing some research and doing Insanity it says I should be consuming about 2000 calories and that is with a 500 calorie deficit. I am nervous to try this but want to get the best results from the program. In the first month I'm down about 4 pounds, 2 inches off my waist, an inch off each my thighs and my arms have remained the same. Obviously my cardio and strength has vastly improved. So I'm going to up my calorie goal to 1900 for the next month of Insanity. I won't log exercise cals because obviously they are already factored in. Anyone have good luck actually eating more and getting better results from the program?

A shockingly high number of us have upped cals and had better results.... most people seem to think less is better, not realizing that too much less is not enough!!

Especially in your case, nursing- you shouldn't go on too much deficit. Upping your intake by 300 per day is not a big jump at all- try it for 2 weeks and adjust from there if needed.

I am doing insanity too. And I was clearly not eating enough ....Results : I was exhausted most of the time. I upped my calories this week , took a 5 days-exercize-break and I am back on the bandwagon today

I 'll see how this work !

I changed the settings too as my proteins were too low ...

    Good luck with everything !

I upped my calories by almost 600 a day- and I am still losing!!! I love that I get to eat more- and I am not starving anymore!
  • Let me know how it goes, i'm doing it for the first time logging the excercise and eating within cals, but i'm only on day 3 and trying to manage just to jump right!!! (knee injury in march holding me back a bit). I need a bit of inspiration as to what i can look forward to!!!

I think you probably will be doing great upping your calories a bit since you are exclusively breastfeeding. Your body might not be getting enough. All you can do is try and see what happens. The important thing is being healthy for you and the baby. A lot of body reshaping goes on during Insanity. Especially after having a baby. I did Insanity after having my baby and didn't lose a lot weight but gained a ton of muscle and endurance. Good luck
