Motivation after a rubbish day at work

I was wondering what everyone does to motivate them to keep going after a bad day at work.

Today was such hard work, I'm a home shopping picker and we had too many orders and not enough people so I was on my feet for nearly 9 hours to try and get it finished. I know that this would probably count towards my exercise goals but I don't track what I do at work. I've been trying to stick to the EA Active 30 day challenge on my Wii but when I got home, all I wanted to do was get a takeaway and slob out in front of the TV all evening (luckily, today is a rest day on the EA Active so I haven't missed a workout).

I originally joined MFP a few months ago and only ever kept to it for three or so days at a time as I'd lose motivation after a bad day at work (they can happen quite often). I started again last week during a week off and I made some friends (which I hadn't done before) and that really helped and I lost 4lbs in my first week. But now I'm back in work and I can see it happening again.

Are there any 'unusual' ways of getting and staying motivated? I thought of perhaps sticking a picture of what I want to look like at goal on my fridge, or making a weight loss chart to stick on my wardrobe so I see it when I get home and feel positive about things. Any suggestions welcome!! Thanks in advance :-)

  • I always hit the gym after a bad day, take out my frustration on the machines!!
Headphones on, stick some Metallica on full blast and give the treadmill a pounding!!
Go home nice and refreshed - works for me anyway!!

Hi there I have more bad days then good days at work usually a bad headache comes on, but I keep myself focus that I have to go to the gym regardless, you want to know about motivation here is one for you I use to weigh 350 lbs and I am at 169 lbs. I keep on pushing myself despite of the ups and downs of work or other problems that may arise. Be determined and if you feel really tired at least do 30 mins of cardio, you won't feel so bad despite not giving it your all.

I started a kickboxing workout so that I could take out my frustrations on that (pretend I am kicking the person, project, problem) right in the butt! I usually feel much better when I am done and I can release the tension. Otherwise I sit there and stew or worry all night and can't seem to let it go.

I have to disassociate my work life from my personal life because both frustrate me some times and you cannot let them bleed into each other.

I wake up and take 10 mins to get my head "straight" to go be "worker" me all day long. When I come home from work, I take 10 mins to change clothes and de-stress/meditate to me "not-working" me for the rest of the day (or weekend).

Coming home to a clean house helps too ~ if I dont have any distractions, I can guarantee getting my workout in. =)
