Breakfast question

I am having a hard time getting enough protein. Would it be better to drink a protein drink instead of eating a bowl of Speciaal K cereal. I bought a drink that has 220 calories, 32 grams of protein and 9 grams of fat. Any help is appreciTed.

The best one is the one you like better, so that you will be more inclined to take it. I get plenty of protein from all the chicken I eat, but I still drink an occaisional protein shake when i have calories left over, just out of habit.0

That would be fine to have a shake in the morning every day if you are wanting to increase protein.
And yeah you will have to replace something with it, so possibly drop that special k0 -
Thanks for the help.0

I'm pretty physically active at work so I need solids over liquids to make sure I don't crash on energy. I have been eating a lot of these nutrition bars called "quest bars" You can get them at GNC or online. I ordered a case of cinnimon rolls and strawberry cheesecake. They are pretty tasty for a nutritional bar but pack in 40G of protein and 34G of fiber which will help you feel fuller longer. Here is the site if your interested

How about eggs?0

ugh... quest bars... to each their own! I don't like the taste/texture, personally, but it is all preference.
I like clif builders, detour bars, and the metrx big100's.
As far as the breakfast thing, another option might be to switch your milk to soy milk for your cereal. While it doesn't have as much protein as a bar or shake, the soy milk has a decent amount and less calories than milk.0 -
Yep, nothing wrong with a protein shake each day. Give it a shot and see how you do. Some people feel that shakes don't keep them full very long, others feel stuffed.
Subbing out the special K would be a good option if you wanted to add in a shake for more protein.
Are something like eggs/sausage out of the question? 3 eggs and 3 turkey sausage patties are a quick and easy breakfast (can even be done in the microwave at work if necessary) and have ~30g of protein. Add in a tall glass of milk and your up to 40+.0 -

I found that I have to put the Quest bar in the mircrowave for about 5-10sec and they taste better and easier to chew. I also like Pure Protein bars, but they do not have as much dietery fiber- but still good to get in that extra 20g of protein if needed.
I personally can not "drink" my calories/protein only. I need solid, I like to enjoy eating my food and therefore my protein shakes are only for after a workout, not as a meal replacement. I'd rather get my protein from chicken; but if you think you can handle it and will feel full until your next snack/meal, go for it.0 -
I would go for a few eggs/egg whites or leftover meat/fish to meet your protein needs. A can of tuna is super simple. Most protein shakes and drinks have Bad Stuff added to them. If you can get pure whey isolate... even then, I would rather add egg whites to a smoothie than an isolate.0

lol... funny how different tastes/preferences can be. You say you like to enjoy eating your cals, but you say you prefer pure protein bars. I can barely choke those things down.
But back on topic... OP... protein bars are great to have on hand (I generally keep a box at home and a box at work so I have something decent to fall back on), just check the nutritional info to find which ones fit best into your macros. Then you just have to try a bunch to find the brand/flavor you like. They are never going to taste like a snickers, but some are MUCH better than others.0
