Need some routine!

I just got myself back to the gym and have no idea what I'm doing! I like classes, I do the Zumba and Core classes, but on days like today where I wanna get there and get done after work, I don't know what I should be doing. I like the cross trainer, but obviously I need more than 30 minutes on a cardio machine. Any suggestions? I don't really know how to use many of the machines...but I'm sure I can figure it out!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Usually when you join a gym, they'll give you one or two free intro sessions with a personal trainer, who will show you some of the machines and get you started with a workout plan. They may even do a physical assessment. Have you checked to see if your gym offers that? If not, it might be work the $50 or so to do one session with a personal trainer to get you started!
You could also check out videos online, like Body Rock TV, or fitness blogs—sometimes they'll have weight training workouts you can watch and then copy down for the trip to the gym. Also, this website gives you exercises based on the body parts you want to work out: http://www.divine.ca/en/health/exercise-finder/c_266/
Sometimes I'll pick up a Women's Health or Fitness magazine to get the workout plan they have for that month. If you do that, you have something easy you can follow for a month, and then change to the new one the next month. You won't get bored, and you'll work out many different body parts!
If you get bored with 30 minutes on a cardio machine (I TOTALLY do!) and want more, you could do like 20 minutes on the bike, 20 minutes on the cross trainer, 20 on the stair-climber, and then 20 minutes on the treadmill!
Hope that helps!0 -
Thats Great! Ive made a workout schedule for myself and it actually does work. i have the insanity dvd, a gym membership, zumba fitness for the wii and apps for my phone with workouts. so heres a couple of ideas:
Monday- Saturday = INSANITY
Monday&Wednesday= ZUMBA WITH JUANITA @ THE GYM
Tuesday, Thursday & Friday = GYM ( cardio circuit= treadmill 10min, elliptical 20 min, biking 10 min, rowing 10 min, jump rope 10min) *strength training as much as i can on each exercise equipment ie legs arms abs back)
Monday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday = APP WORKOUTS FROM PHONE
Saturday & Sunday= Zumba Fitness For The Wii0 -
Best to state your goals when asking something like this0

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Yes I think i will use a trainer for a session or 2 just to familiarize myself with the machinery. I have Rockin Body and Turbo Jam, and Wii Active, and a bevy of other dvds...but i really need the direction and atmosphere of a class to get me going. This is why i struggle just using machines! I call it fitness ADD. Luckily they have tvs on every machine so I get distracted from the time ticking on the cross trainer haha!0

I personally do Zumba or strength training classes as much as possible, because I too have fitness ADD and have a hard time knowing what to do! Classes are great because you get some social atmosphere, motivation, and direction!0
