Feeling stuck and in a major rut

Last year I was using MFP and lost 35lbs. Gained it all back. So I have gone back to MFP using my same dieting techniques as before and no luck. I have gained 4 lbs, lost 4 lbs and gained 2 lbs. So its been a month and lost 2 pounds!! My mother in law has been doing WW for 2 weeks and has lost 5!! feel like I have been pushing it food and exercise wise but nada....Of course I had a few cheat days. But over all I need some thoughts, ideas, tricks... anything.

I know the feeling..but truly consistancy is the key.
If I go "off" my eating plan and just have a few drinks with friends on the weekend I will not lose any weight.

Mind you that is with eating clean and working out 5-6 days a week, but that is my reality.

I know if I have a little here or there..the scale will not budge.

Just try "one week" eating totally clean and be very active- see what happens....

Ive been stuck since my summer holiday. I gained pounds, lost desire to workout.

I Think our way out is simple...we HAVE to get serious about it. How bad do we want this?

To shake my metabolism, Ive been trying to cut back my cals by having one or two very low cal days comined with my regular days. This seems to have jarred my body from its slumber and the scale is moving again.

I am also attempting to be more consistent with my excercise. I cant do very intense stuff, so I just try to put some time aside for a walk. I try to get that done early in the day so I dont have an excuse not to do it later!

    We can do this!

Try taking a more relaxed approach....I used to have an "all or nothing" attitude towards 'dieting'. It would stress me out, I'd do amazing and stay out of 'junk' food, then miss it and binge. All that hard work for nothing! I've stuggled with the same 5 lbs for MONTHS!!

I've tried everything....low carb, low cal, intermittent fasting, carb cycling, blah, blah...:) What seems to work the best for me has been to calculate some numbers, and trust the process. I've gone to the Scooby Workshop website, have calculated my BMR and TDEE (I couldn't lose ANYTHING eating below 1000 net calories a day....was SO frustrated!!)

My BMR is 1372 and my TDEE at a sedentary rate is 1647. The 1647 is what I would need to eat in order to maintain my current weight. I reduce that by 15% which = 1399

I have set MFP to 1400 cals per day with a macro split of 30% protein, 40% carbs, and 30% fat.

I use a HRM to get an exact count of calories burned during workouts so I'm not over/under estimating and I EAT ALL of those back.

I make sure that I never NET below my BMR and keep my daily net between 1400 and 1500 cals per day. If I burn 300 cals during exercise, I eat an extra 300 cals to total 1700-1800 for the day. 1700 - 300 = 1400 NET calories.

Since starting this a week ago, I feel AMAZING! I'm sleeping better, I have more energy, and the most exciting part is that I've lost 1.5 lbs that I've been fighting with for MONTHS!!!! I'm the lowest weight I've been all year!

Even better, I get to eat MORE! I don't eliminate anything from my diet...I try to make smarter choices, but still eat my chocolate everyday, and if I want a greasy cheeseburger, then I have it! I just make sure I balance out the rest of my day and stay within my calorie counts. I focus on keeping my protein up and let everything else fall where it may.

    Hope that helps!
