New to Kettlebell training...

Hey guys!
I just bought my first kettlebell (15 pound) and I'm hoping to use it as a cross-training tool for days that I don't run on. I know it's not a typical form of cross-training, but I really want some sort of heart pumping activity to keep me going on the days I don't run. Right now I'm running ~2.5-3 miles a day at about a 5.5-5.7mph pace. I just want to be able to burn the same number of calories (roughly 300) with the kettlebell. Any idea of any exercises I can do with this/amount of time I need to do it would be appreciated! Thaknks!

From what I understand/experience, you may be starting out a little too light. I started out with 20 and quickly moved up. Although I do use the 15 for little things.

I have referred to livefitrevolution.com and Tracy Reifkind (The Swing) for kettlebell tips and workouts. Pretty much, it is what you make of it.

    hope that helps.

I'm a distance running and will be running my first marathon this Sunday. I just purchased Kettleworx. It's a set of 6 dvds that comes with 5, 10 or 15 lb kettlebell depending on the one you choose. The program involves working out three days a week for thirty minutes. I'm planning to began my six week cross training program on Oct.1. You can go to Kettleworx.com to see if it's something you might be interested in trying.
