Adding egg whites to oatmeal?

For the people who enjoy adding whites to their oatmeal, do you find it makes it more filling? Or do you just add them for the extra protein?

why would these be mutually exclusive?0

I find this so funny because on the bus today I was thinking "what if I add egg whites to my oatmeal in the morning, would it still taste good??" lol Is it a good combo??0

I don't know that I feel fuller, but I like the protein bulk! And you really can't even taste the difference! I kind of like it because I feel like it "bulks" up my oatmeal a bit, but if you make it on the stove, just make sure you continuously stir or else it gets kind of like scrambled eggs rather than integrated into the oatmeal! I've never tried it in the microwave, though!0

I know It makes it super creamy!0

Depends. Marathon training where I'm trying to load on protein, yes I add egg whites. Other than that, hold the egg whites please.0

Ew. Personally the egg white/oatmeal combo sounds nasty to me LOL, but of course I'm not a savory oatmeal type of person, sweet only lol
I would think both reasons though.0 -
I would do this all the time. But I would make steelcut oatmeal. Pretty much 5 minutes in the cooking process. I'll add a whole egg, egg whites, yogurt, protein powder, banana, peanut butter, flaxseeds, and nuts. It's a lot of calories, but this is usually on a weekend and I'll stay full for a long *kitten* time, so I'll have carrots for a snack, and salad with half chicken breast for lunch, etc.0

I've never heard this before... how exactly do you do this? I make mine in the microwave because I don't exactly have a stove, just a hot plate that sucks. Can I still make it work that way?0

Yes, I usually do mine in the microwave too! Just prepare it normally add your water, the oats & then some egg whites. Stir it all up & throw it in the microwave.0 -
Oh my gosh YESS. I love oats and egg whites. I actually sometimes put in a whole egg in addition to the egg whites, some salt and pepper and ta-da! (sometimes paprika too, which I don't know why, I just like to put paprika into everything...I think I just like saying it, haha). But when I started making oatmeal this way, was also the time I switched to steel oats, as opposed to those sugary instant oats, so I don't know if it was the steel oats or the egg that did it, but yes, it was more filling (could be because of it's higher nutrition content over the instant). I've also heard people putting some peanut butter on top, but I haven't tried it yet0

I mix 1/2 cup egg whites, 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup pumpkin, 1 teas cinnamon, and 1 teas pumpkin pie spice together. Then I pour the "batter" in a non stick skillet to make pancakes. I top it with a little bit of sugar free syrup. It's my go to breakfast!0
