Hey there friends... I have a quick question about the BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). My BMR is 1,751 - is that how many calories I should be eating??

The BMR is the number of calories your body uses just being your body on your typical day.

Apparently that's the minimum number you should be eating with the deficit made up through exercise...I'm not an expert, just based on a blog I read earlier today.

No that is not how many calories you should be eating. That is the minimum amount of calories your body needs to breathe, keep up vital functions, and keep you alive.

If you want to work, chase around kids, exercise, you need more food than BMR intake.

If your BMR is 1751 then that is what you would eat in calories to maintain your weight. Eat less calories to lose weight. Eat more calories to gain weight. MFP should provide you the correct amount of calories based on your lifestyle (sedentary, active, etc.) in order to lose weight at a healthy rate. Good luck!

I'm eating about 1400 calories a day... before exercise, with exerise it increases.... I've lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks, am I losing too fast?? I want to be healthy about this. MFP wanted me to do 1200, I pushed it up to 1400 because I can't live on 1200!!
